Inner City Law Center (ICLC) is a nonprofit law firm on Skid Row in Downtown Los Angeles. We are looking
for extraordinary people to help us end homelessness in Los Angeles. Founded on the fundamental principle
that every person should always be treated with dignity and respect, ICLC fights for justice for low-income
tenants, working-poor families, people experiencing homelessness, people living with HIV/AIDS, people with
disabilities, and homeless veterans.
Position Description: ICLC seeks a dynamic and talented Staff Attorney to join our new Bringing Families
Home Project. This Staff Attorney will work with a team that is serving clients who are experiencing or are at
risk of homelessness and receiving child welfare services. Working in partnership with homeless services,
other community service providers, and the project funder, the Staff Attorney will provide holistic legal
services to tackle barriers to our clients becoming and staying housed and related barriers that impact family
stability. This focus on providing housing stability and related legal services to vulnerable families fits
perfectly with the question that ICLC asks for all of our clients: “What is the pathway to long-term stable
housing?”
Responsibilities:
• Provide holistic legal services, across a wide-array of legal areas, to tackle barriers to housing for our clients.
• Engage in creative problem solving and litigation to address legal challenges that create barriers to housing
for our clients.
• Be comfortable with addressing a wide-array of legal issues.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with funder, legal services partner, and Bringing Families Home
homeless prevention contractors.
• Conduct monthly in-person legal intake clinics, and participate in other community outreach events.
• Work closely with pro bono counsel to expand the volume of services ICLC can provide.
• Help develop and launch a newly funded project.
• Other duties as assigned.
Hiring Criteria: Commitment to ICLC’s mission. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong work
ethic. Excellent negotiation skills. Ability to use good judgment, multitask, and meet deadlines. Ability to learn new
areas of law. Excellent customer service skills. Active Bar Membership in California or eligible to practice as a
Registered Legal Aid Attorney under Rule 9.45 of the California Rules of Court. Must have a reliable form of
transportation to reach courthouses, partners, and clients across Los Angeles County.
Compensation: Salary range is $75,000 – $105,000, depending on experience. Excellent benefits, including two
weeks of vacation per year, along with additional days off, paid sick time, health insurance, 401k, flexible
