Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Armen Tamzarian has been assigned as Justice Pro Tempore of the California Court of Appeal, Second Appellate District, Division 5, by the Chief Justice of the California Supreme Court, Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye. Judge Tamzarian currently presides over an independent calendar civil department in the Stanley Mosk Courthouse in downtown Los Angeles.  He previously served in civil trial and family law departments.

Prior to his appointment to the bench, Judge Tamzarian worked as a lead attorney for a California Court of Appeal justice.  Judge Tamzarian also worked as an associate and, subsequently, as a partner at Case, Knowlson, Jordan & Wright LLP in Los Angeles.  His law practice focused on business litigation and constitutional law. 

Judge Tamzarian is the Co-Chairman of the Armenian Bar Association’s Genocide Reparations Committee and an active member of the Domestic Violence Committee.

2024 International Law Symposium: Call for Papers

The humanitarian crisis for the ethnic Armenian community of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) [as a result of Azerbaijan’s complete military encirclement, months-long blockade, and, ultimately, the entire Armenian population’s forced migration out of Nagorno-Karabakh] raise oft-ignored questions about the universality and effectiveness of non-derogable international human rights norms. This Call for Papers seeks submissions of abstracts for papers exploring the relationship between human rights and unrecognized or partially recognized States (viz, countries), particularly in connection with the live issues in Nagorno-Karabakh.
