The Armenian Bar Association invites you to an informative presentation featuring California employment attorney Rita Bojalian, who will explain what separation (severance) agreements are, why employers use them, and the key provisions employees should understand before signing.
Imagine being called into Human Resources without warning and being handed a separation agreement as your employment comes to an end. What does this document actually mean? Why are employers asking you to sign it, and what should you look for before making a decision?
During this practical session, Rita Bojalian will break down the purpose of separation agreements, explain the most common provisions they contain, and highlight the key terms to watch for. Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of these agreements and practical insights to help make informed decisions during a challenging time.
Rita Bojalian is a California employment attorney and pre-litigation strategist with more than twenty years of experience. She has served in senior in-house legal roles at Canon Medical Systems, Boston Scientific, and St. Jude Medical, where she contributed to a landmark $2.3 billion trade-secret verdict. Drawing on experience from both the corporate and litigation sides, she provides practical, proactive guidance on workplace legal issues. A frequent speaker on employment law, Rita holds both a J.D. and an LL.M. from Southwestern University School of Law and a B.S. from USC. She also provides pro bono support to several community organizations and is co-author of The Book of Human Resources Forms.
